Project Overview
The Hills of Gold Wind Farm is located 5km south of Hanging Rock and 8km south-east of Nundle in NSW. The project is located within three Local Government Areas: Tamworth Regional Council, Upper Hunter Shire Council, and Liverpool Plains Shire Council.
The project, which has received approval from the NSW Independent Planning Commission, will feature 62 wind turbines and will generate up to 372 MW of clean, affordable and reliable energy – enough to power 163,000 Australian homes.
In August 2025, Someva Renewables proudly acquired the Hills of Gold Wind Farm. As one of the original project partners, Someva has been deeply involved in the project since 2017 leading development works, supporting community engagement, planning approvals, the landowner consultation and agreement process, procurement, grid connection assessment, layout design, wind monitoring and transport arrangements.
Someva is now focused on defending the project against an appeal in the Land and Environment Court challenging the NSW Independent Planning Commission’s approval.
