Commenting on the acquisition of the proposed Hills of Gold Wind Farm from ENGIE, Jamie Chivers, Managing Director of Someva Renewables said:
“Someva Renewables is proud to have acquired the Hills of Gold Wind Farm in New South Wales.
Someva Renewables is a NSW-based, 100% Australian owned renewable energy company and we have worked alongside Clean Energy Partners and ENGIE as partners in the proposed Hills of Gold Wind Farm since 2017. In that time we have been deeply involved in the project leading development works, supporting community engagement, planning approvals, the landowner consultation and agreement process, procurement, grid connection assessment, layout design, wind monitoring and transport arrangements.
As one of the original project partners, Someva is well placed to take carriage of this important wind energy project.
We believe the proposed Hills of Gold Wind Farm is an important project for the local community and for NSW’s energy transition. It is a well-situated project with a quality wind resource, has been optimised through years of local collaboration and community engagement, and was approved by the NSW Independent Planning Commission in September 2024.
Following today’s ownership transition, Someva’s priority is to meet with the project’s hosts, near neighbours and local stakeholders. In fact, Someva’s executive team have been in Nundle and the surrounding community this week meeting with locals to discuss the project.
An immediate focus for Someva will be defending the project against an appeal in the Land and Environment Court challenging the NSW Independent Planning Commission’s approval.
Someva and ENGIE are now working closely together to ensure a smooth ownership transition for the project and the community.
We look forward to providing further updates in due course.”
